Connectivity made easy with Fusion

Linking Legacy applications to gain value from IT investments, and linking disparate ERP applications is easily achieved with the versatile Fusion platform.

Fusion is a powerful integration platform that connects and coordinates applications and data across networks and enterprises. Designed around industry standards the system is high-performance and simple to use.

Typically businesses face many different integration challenges. Fusion is a versatile and flexible platform that can link systems and provide a cost-effective solution to suit most business integration needs. Using Fusion an enterprise can:

Link legacy applications to gain value from IT investments, sharing data across networks and beyond

Streamline and automate operations and processes gaining accurate and up-to-date information

Improve bottom line performance by reducing staff time spent on unproductive tasks

Create new revenue opportunities by linking the enterprise with trading partners

Fusion is secure, reliable and fast, based on open standards that include messaging, Web Services and XML. This platform-independent system is especially designed as a turnkey solution that does not require extensive IT overhead or additional software to run.

The distributed host architecture ensures a versatile platform for linking applications within the enterprise and beyond.

Scalable, fast and easy to use, implementation is measured in days, not weeks or months.

One application or adapter can change without impacting other systems

Fusion middleware ties applications together

Fusion is a flexible application that supports both service oriented architectures and a traditional hub and spoke approach. The system allows an integrated network of service nodes to be deployed in ‘service containers’ that can be connected in a logical ‘service bus’ by communication servers. This design provides resilience, flexibility and control. Connected applications are ‘contained’ independently and for example can use disparate data formats, with the system managing data transformation between them. Guaranteed delivery of transformed data is ensured via a built-in message queue.

The design also means that services can be upgraded or changed at any time without disrupting the entire system or procedures. An application behind a service node can be altered with only the single adapter servicing that application needing to be changed. No other change to integrated applications or adapters is required. For example replacing the order entry, finance, CRM or other applications no longer needs to impact on other parts of your integration evironment, avoiding a major problem encountered with point-to-point integrations.

Using Fusion companies can move incrementally to a service oriented architecture with little risk, and reduced up-front investment.

Connecting distributed data

Fusion is an integration platform designed to meet the challenge of distributed data. Businesses everywhere need to exchange disparate and distributed information, ranging from orders or parts-pricing via email, through to the exchange of complex EDI messages. Integrating such data into internal systems means verifying content, changing the format to suit receiving systems and transferring the data perhaps with complex selections or manipulation.

Typically most organisations have created a mix of manual and custom software solutions for these interfaces. Such solutions are usually expensive, time consuming and prone to errors. Fusion can be deployed in a hub & spoke or enterprise service bus (ESB) model. Fusion is a platform especially designed to provide a reliable, versatile and fast solution to these integration needs.

Fusion lets you leverage existing component middleware and make the most of all your IT investments. Adapters are included for most common data formats including databases, spreadsheets, flat and CSV files and EDI. A J2EE resource adapter and built-in JDBC driver for enterprise DBMS provide a seamless framework for third party plug-ins. Multiple transports are included as standard including File drop and pickup, FTP, Web services, HTTP, messaging, email and host Telnet integration. Fusion includes a template system for all your commonly used data sources.
