To download and install a 15-day trial version of Fusion (Windows):

  1. Click here to download the installation file.
  2. Once you have downloaded the zip file, and have unzipped it, double-click on the relevant install.exe to install the application. NOTE: On Windows 8 you may need to set the installer file properties to have Windows 7 compatibility and run as Administrator.
  3. When you get to "Choose Product Features", select "Full Install".
  4. To run the Fusion Console (which is like the Designer), navigate to the install directory and click on the "Fusion Console" shortcut, which will be located in the directory you chose to install your shortcuts in.
  5. The first window that appears will create hypersonic databases for you when you click the "Upgrade" button, so you won't need to connect to other database for the demo.
  6. After the tables are created and seeded, you can "Continue", then login as super (password super).  You will have a temporary 15 day license.
  7. At this point you will have a running console, which will allow you to create actions and workflows.

 

To download and install a 15-day trial version of Fusion (Linux):

  1. The following instructions are for Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop.
  2. Click here to download the installation file and open it with Archive Manager.
  3. Extract the file.
  4. Right-click and select 'Properties', Permissions tab, tick 'Execute'.
  5. Go into Terminal and enter ./install.bin to install the application.
  6. When you get to "Choose Product Features", select "Full Install".
  7. You will need to set the database connection details in the folder .../Fusion/config/admin.cfg and host.cfg to connect to the database of your choice. For any RDBMS other than MS SQL or Hypersonic you will need to drop the relevant driver JARs into the .../Fusion/lib directory and update the LAX.CLASS.PATH property in the file sconsole.lax and host.lax.
  8. To run the Fusion Console (which is the workflow Designer), navigate to the install directory and click on the "Fusion Console" shortcut, which will be located in the directory you chose to install your shortcuts in.
  9. The first window that appears will populate the databases for you when you click the "Upgrade" button.
  10. After the tables are created and seeded, you can "Continue", then login as super (password super).  You will have a temporary 15 day license.
  11. At this point you will have a running console, which will allow you to create actions and workflows.

 

Load an Example transformation workflow:

  1. Click here to download an example workflow.
  2. Extract the file to a temporary folder.
  3. In the Fusion Console right-click on “Projects” folder in the left hand Explorer tree
  4. Select “Load Definition” and browse to your temporary folder
  5. Choose the file called “Order Translation Example.def” and click the “Load” button in the pop-up window.
  6. Under Projects you should now see a project called “Example Project”


Running the Example Workflow (translates a CSV file to an XML file):

  1. Expand “Example Project”
  2. Expand “Interface Workflows”
  3. Double click the “Order Translation Example”
  4. Execute the Workflow using the “green play” button
  5. Look in the c:\temp folder and a new file “order.xml” has been created

 

Looking at the Example Workflow:

  1. Open the “Order Translation Example” workflow (if not still open)
  2. Double click the workflow node in the middle called “Translate CSV to XML” (This is a Data Transformation Action)
  3. Note the “Source” and “Target” tabs half way down
  4. Select the “Mapping” tab on the Translate CSV order to XML (left is the source, right is the target)
  5. Click the + (plus) button on the top to expand the definitions
  6. Note the different mapping on the right. 
  7. Drag and drop a field from the left window to a field on the right hand side (that a simple mapping)
  8. Select the CONTENT of the ORDER_DATE on the right – note the simple Java script used in this translation
  9. Select the “Timezone” field below that the CONTENT field - note that it returns a default static value
